The school disputes that the deficiency is associated with any applicable legal requirement that a charter school must state information about public comment on its website. Regardless, Independence Charter School – West’s family and student handbook, a copy of which is posted on the school website (and which is disseminated in hard copy to all families), provides, “Families, ICS West staff, community members, and the general public are welcome to attend any board meeting. There is a public comment period scheduled at each meeting.” Furthermore, as reflected in the attached communication(s) to the entire school community, members of the school community have been directly notified of their opportunity to make public comment.
